The second organization set up is called the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) and there is only one recognized and optional short course available. This is normally a two day course which is certified by the NALA, covering the normal functions of a legal assistant which include legal research and terminology, different areas of substantive law and the correct work ethics and business practices.
There has been a big push in recent times from the ABA to ensure that, both the NFPA and the NALA are keeping up to date with their training facilities and modern day law and business practices and offer the right kind of qualifications for people who wish to further their careers in this particular field.
